Kodak Introduces Affordable Duplex, Colour and Black & White Departmental Scanner
In August this year Kodak released its first departmental scanner. The Kodak i50 Scanner, a 20-ppm colour, greyscale and black-and-white scanner that comes with an attractive software bundle, will now get a duplex brother. Kodak i60 Departmental Scanner
KODAK i60 Scanner - Full details..
Priced attractively, the Kodak i60 scanner will offer the same great features but an increase in performance and provide DUPLEX scanning. Kodak's innovation departmental scanners are tailor-made for small businesses as well as company departments with a need for reliable exception scanning compatible with the quality of Kodak's top-of-the-range scanners. Small though it is, the Kodak i50 and i60 scanners have the pedigree, and many of the features, of its mid- and high-volume relatives.

25 pages/minute
The Kodak i60 scanner captures business documents, photos or other graphics at speeds up to 25 pages per minute in black and white, 13 pages per minute greyscale, or 10 pages per minute in colour and handles peak volumes up to 1,000 pages per day. Unlike other scanners in this class, the Kodak i60 duplex throughput is the same as the simplex. That's 50 images per minute. The innovative i60 Scanner features an automatic document feeder as well as a flatbed platen for those documents, which are difficult or bound.

"The Kodak departmental i50 and i60 scanners meets the Kodak i60 Scannerneed for low-cost document capture and fits comfortably into a front-office environment, particularly given its light weight and small footprint design," said Craig Beattie, Product Manager, Kodak Document Imaging, Capture Products, Greater Asia Region. "Customers want the flexibility to scan in colour, greyscale or in black and white and to capture the occasional exception document, whether it's tissue thin, fragile like credit card slips, a thick document like a photograph, or unusually small documents, like a business card. The built-in flatbed enables this model to do that. Customers also demand exceptional colour image quality and the i50 and i60 Scanners produce images that rival higher-end scanners."

Operators will see at a glance all the key information, including highlights, text on shaded backgrounds and stamps. The crisp black and white or greyscale images can be output at a maximum of 600dpi making this a great scanner for Web publishing and business communications applications. Once the work is batched, simply load the documents and the automatic document feeder does the rest making light of small, fragile pieces of paper and different paper thicknesses.

Plug, play and scan
Kodak's departmental scanners come with bundled application software for document management, text recognition and photo management. The bundled drivers (ISIS and TWAIN) offer built-in user controls to adjust image quality, drop out colour for forms processing and a mode to preview adjusted images. All adjustments may be saved and applied to batches of documents which ensures both user productivity and optimal image quality. Installation is fast and easy for IT and non-IT departments alike. To keep busy departments running smoothly users simply snap in replacement parts.

Available in October 2001
